Residency: Applicant must be a Texas Resident and Meet citizenship or residency requirements. Income: Only the applicant’s income is considered for eligibility. If applicant is SINGLE, gross limit $2,982 MARRIED, if both spouses apply $5,964 If applicant’s monthly income exceeds the limit, a Qualified Income Trust is required.
Resources: As of close of business last day of the previous month, total Applicant’s countable resources cannot exceed $2,000 for a single applicant; $3,000 for married applicants.
Spousal Protected Resource Amount (SPRA): If a spouse lives in the community, a couple may have up to $32,531 in countable assets. For those with larger estates, 50% of the total is protected with a maximum of $162,660. Couples with total gross income below $4,066.50/month can have more assets.
